Day 1 - Darwin to Kakadu National Park We get to view some fantastic bird life on the Marrakai Floodplain and White Lily Billabong. Next you can view various displays on Kakadu and learn about the local Aboriginal people. Our last port of call for the day is Barramundi Gorge where you can spend time exploring, rock climbing, relaxing or swimming in the waterfalls. (LD) Camp: Koolpin Gorge Campground (toilets/no showers available)
Day 2 - Kakadu National Park Today we get “off the beaten track” exploring the beautiful area of Koolpin Gorge. This remote location is in the very southern end of Kakadu and only 3 companies in Australia have Special Permits to enter this region. We spend a full day hiking along Koolpin Creek where you can refresh yourself frequently in escarpment pools set amongst some of Kakadu’s most spectacular scenery. (BLD) Camp: Gunlom Campground (toilets/showers available)
Day 3 - Kakadu National Park Today we get “away from the crowds” as we travel for a couple of hours on a challenging 4WD track that leads us to one of Kakadu’s most rugged and diverse environments. Unmarked on most maps, Graveside Gorge is a remote scenic area with beautiful waterfalls, plunge pools and great hikes that Wilderness Adventures has a Special Permit to visit. (BLD) Camp: Minimal Facility Campground (toilets/no showers available)
Day 4 - Kakadu National Park Today we 4WD toward Twin Falls where you will get to enjoy an informative boat cruise with an Aboriginal guide up Twin Falls Gorge. There’s also the opportunity for a rugged hike to the top of Twin Falls for a spectacular view. Next we 4WD through creeks and sand on our way to mighty Jim Jim Falls where a swim in the plunge pool at the base of the falls is sure to refresh the senses. Our safari camp permits in Kakadu allow us to choose the best and most peaceful campsites so you’ll be waking up to the sound of birds instead of the usual urban cacophony. (BLD) Camp: Garnamarr/ Muirella Park Campground (toilets/showers available)
Day 5 - Kakadu to Darwin A highlight of this safari is an exclusive Aboriginal Cultural Experience operated by Kakadu Culture Camp. You’ll get the opportunity to participate in fun activities such as spear throwing, didgeridoo lessons and listening to some great dreamtime stories. A cultural experience of a different kind awaits at Ubirr Rock, recognised as one of the most famous Aboriginal rock art and cultural areas in the world. We end our day with a Private Crocodile and Wildlife Cruise on Corroboree Billabong, a part of the Mary River system. (BL)
Bring: Sturdy walking shoes, hat and sunscreen, towel and toiletries, water bottle (1 litre), torch, insect repellent/net, camera, pillow and sleeping bag (can be hired for $20).
Note: Itineraries may vary and/or attractions be substituted due to seasonal conditions, weather extremes, Traditional Owner and national park requirements.
